Clueless About Tartan

Whether you're a nineties kid trying to recapture your grunge youth, or embracing this season's reinvention of punk, tartan is the pattern to be wearing!  Channel Clueless's Cher and Dionne, or any of the following celebrities, to work this highland trend.

Tart It Up

Whilst I'm not suggesting wearing top-to-toe tartan, although it seems like a great idea to me, there are several nineties trends to take-away from this trend board.  In terms of upper wear, it's time to hitch up your hem lines and flaunt your muffin in a crop top!  Lovely and loose, they'll be perfect for layering up when the cold weather sets in.  Team these tiny tees with even tinier pinafores! Try and buy one with cute button detailing or some substantial pockets for practical purposes, it'll be easier to get in and out of and you'll be amazed by how much you can store in the skirt.  The clue here is to treat your pinafore like a childhood play-suit and play in it, fashion is meant to be fun!  But, if you want to sex it up, how about a pair of tight tartan leggings or a body-con dress, like these from Topshop and Glamorous.  Complete the look with even bolder shades of tartan, like this very Cher yellow, Cambridge satchel.  Or, invest in a grounding grey or neutral toned tartan shoe to bring you outfit back down to Earth, it's the subtle touch of tartan that will go with every outfit!
